During the Puja, Greg Wilson (center) sits amidst the climbing Sherpas. Greg is guiding this expedition with Robert Link. As with Robert, Greg has successfully summitted Everest from the more difficult north side but has yet to experience success from the south side.
Part of the ceremony involves the spreading of Tsampa powder on each participant's face, mimicking a long, gray beard and moustache--a blessing for a long, fruitful and successful life.

We hope the blessings take for both us and the entire expediton.
The Puja is actually quite emotional, as the entire team gets to gather, reflect, and celebrate in advance of the difficult and dangerous work ahead. Here, Steve Greenholz and Tom Wise (both clients) wish each other safety and luck in their shared endeavor.

the Puja ceremony, it was time for us to begin our return trek to Lukla. |

The
ten climbing Sherpas pose for a photo. Without them, the ascent of Mt.
Everest would be impossible. Among these Sherpas, there are more than a
dozen successful ascents.
