Isla Bartolomé
Up

After our final snorkel of the trip, which proved to be a great finale of a snorkel, including many brightly colored fish and coral, we visited Isla Bartolomé.  At this small Island, We climbed up many steps to reach the top of the volcano which provided a wonderful view of the craters below caused by spewing lava many many years ago as well as a great landscape of several of the other islands coming up from the Pacific.

Our group on the top of Isla Bartolomé.

The craters on Isla Bartolomé look like craters on the moon!  They each were formed when the volcano projected enormous quantities of volcanic debris through the air.  As each one landed, they formed the distinctive shape that you see.

Another crater formed by the volcanic activity now forms a large tidal pool in the Pacific.

One of the dishes served at our opulent farwell dinner prepared for us by the crew of the Samba.  You may remember seeing this critter back when he was barely alive in an earlier photo.  Our final meal was a gluttonous feast, consisting of tuna, roast beef, chicken, vegatables, rice, fresh baked bread (in the shape of sea animals no less), cake and other treats.  It reminded us of Thanksgiving dinner!

The Samba sails on to Santa Cruz.
