The Amalfi Coast, which sits on a small spur that juts out into the Tyrrhenian Sea just below Naples, is famous for its ruggedly beautiful coastline and villages. While this area is no secret, and thus it is home to tourist upon tourist during the summer, we had to experience this region first-hand. Our quick trip to the coast focused on the town of Positano, considered the most beautiful of all the villages with its dramatic cliff-side setting and attractive harbor and beaches on the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Two different views of Positano. As the attractive town clings to the cliff-side, spilling its way to the water below, it makes for some very steep, and tiring, walking.
Rich near the beach at evening, a very relaxing place to be.
With big beaches, picturesque and spectacular scenery, and colorful flowers everywhere, it is little wonder so many people visit the Amalfi Coast.
While in Positano we stayed at the Casa Teresa, a friendly and beautiful bed and breakfast located in the alleyways of a quiet neighborhood. While we could have stayed in Positano for a while, we knew that Sicily was
waiting for us. |
